Learning Resources Handy Scoopers

Learning Resources

We have a fun review and giveaway for you today, for the awesome Handy Scoopers from Learning Resources!prod4963_4_lg

I was really excited to receive these new Handy Scoopers, honestly wondering if they would be sturdy enough to survive Ladybug and Krash!  Thankfully they are and my kids LOVE them! We have played games with them, used them in sensory bins, and even as instruments!

Here we used our Froggy Feeding Fun game pieces to scoop and play a game. You can see the game we played here!

Using the scoops in the rice bin was a BIG favorite! This is Krash burying the toy cow!Home Preschool Letter C -8688

The Handy Scoopers are an excellent fine motor tool and wonderful for sensory bins. I wish I would have had these a year ago, when we did even more fine motor work!  I highly recommend these!  You can purchase Handy Scoopers on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

We will be reviewing the Family Counters next month and Learning Resources has a fun contest going on, read more here: http://www.learningresources.com/familycounters!

Modesty is Beautiful!

In my personal ministry life outside of my homeschooling blog, one of my passions is discipling preteen girls. One of the areas I focus on is modesty and what the Bible has to say about this topic. When Caroline from The Modest Mom signed on to be a blog supporter, I was thrilled!  Not only did I get to receive a few products for review from both Deborah & Co. and Lilla Rose, I get to share a giveaway with you all!

Deborah & Co. sells a wide variety of items and many of their skirts are custom sewn, the customer gets to pick the fabric and length. They also offer women’s, maternity and girl skirts, along with modest cami’s and nursing tanks.

The halftees and cropped layering shells are excellent for pregnant and maternity seasons, and for any women just not wanting the extra bulk while needing a higher cut cami for a lower cut shirt.

We were blessed to be able to review 2 items from Deborah & Co. First, I was gifted with a pair of fleece lined brown leggings and I am in LOVE!  Seriously they feel like pajamas, I highly recommend them.  They come in brown and black, I just might order myself the black pair too.

We also got a custom made skirt for Ladybug, look how cute…

We chose the Girl’s Ruffle Skirt {below knee length} It has an elastic waist band which is a must for my girl’s belly, and also makes it little kid friendly, to aid in self dressing. I can’t wait until it is warm enough for her to wear it outside!

Caroline also sells Lilla Rose and I was sent a flexi clip, which works on both my hair and Ladybug’s!

Deborah & Co.-8602

The flexi clips come in seven different sizes, and that they work in baby fine hair to super thick long hair. Straight or curly hair types. A sizing and styling video can be found here: http://www.lillarose.biz/simplybeautiful/flexi-sizing-and-styling.html

I love my clip and got mine sized to wear in a half-up style.  I struggled at first getting it in, but after a few days it was easy,  I love it! Ladybug also loves it, of course!  Here it is in her hair…Deborah & Co.-8616

One blessed winner will receive ~

$25 gift certificate to Deborah & Co.

$16 gift certificate to Lilla Rose

Maestro Classics CD Bundle Giveaway

The Maestro Classic CDs are wonderful mini-units that help introduce symphony and orchestra to younger students. Maestro Classics produces “Stories in Music” which are a classical music CD series for children ages 5 to 12, but can be enjoyed by everyone, yes…even us big people! Each CD comes with a booklet full of lesson activity ideas and games to play while listening, my kids personally love the cd insert. The CDs also include information on composers and historical facts when appropriate to the musical selections. The stories are engaging keep kids attention while at the same time introducing them to classical symphony and orchestra.

Home Art Studio Giveaway

We have been using Home Art Studio for several months now.  We have both the 3rd grade DVD and the 1st grade DVD.  You can see all of our projects here, as I am blogging through each one! If I had to pick a favorite project, it would definitely be the rose windows, I loved them and so did the kids!

Home Art Studio Rose Windows-3348

We will be continuing to use this art program, it is working well for us. I am excited to be able to give one of you a DVD form the grade level of your choice, {keep reading}!

You can see more about the Home Art Studio program in this introduction video below, if the video isn’t displaying you can view it on Vimeo here.

A few FAQ I have gotten over the past few months…

Would you recommend buying the supplies through Home Art Studio or shopping on your own?  What did you do?

I was given a supply box for review, so I didn’t purchase the supplies myself.  The box was awesome, and had everything we have needed so far.  Only one item wasn’t in there, the colored tissue paper for the rose windows, I had to use my own, but so far that’s been it.  I am not artsy at ALL so shopping for some of the items would have been a tad overwhelming for me.  I imagine if you take the list provided and use some coupons for a craft/art store, you could get your own, but I honestly have no clue what the cost difference would be.

What grade level do you have and how is it working for your kids?

We have used five lessons from grade 3 and one lesson from grade 1.  The grade 1 lessons look awesome, and for the most part even Ladybug can participate in many of them!  Pac {5th grade} loves art so he will too.  For the five 3rd grade lessons we have done, only one has been a tad overwhelming for Krash {1st grade}.  Overall we are VERY pleased with the Home Art Studio program!

Enter below to win a DVD from the grade level of your choice!

Giveaway is open for USA and Canada, and ends on Dec. 11, 2012. Winner will be announced here, on Facebook and via email and has 48 hours to reply!
