See more about letter baskets here!

For her letter craft this week, I took the idea from our Rose Window art project and let her rip up colored tissue paper and gave her some watered down glue and a Qtip to stick the colors onto the X!Tot School Letter X-3913

She really enjoyed covering all of the white spaces!Tot School Letter X-3920

Later on, she cut out her X-ray fish all by herself!Homeschool-3940

I cut out the dried X and she glued her fish onto it!Homeschool-3951

Here she was dot painting her Letter Xx Dot Fun, although I think she had more fun stacking the caps! This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.Tot School Letter X-4003

The printable items shown below are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage. {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter X is not free yet, but it will be}

We are back to doing All About Reading Pre Level 1 once a week. I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.

Coloring her X page, with an emphasis on the “X” sound in the word foX.Tot School Letter X-4039

We had loads of fun creating our own game with our Interlox pieces.  We put them all in a bowl and rolled a die, and took turns grabbing the correct number out of the bowl.Homeschool-3960

Meanwhile, I had taken one of each color and put them in another bowl, for us to “draw” the winning color after the bowl was empty.  Since Krash and Ladybug were playing, I wanted them to focus on counting and sorting, not the specific color.  They had no idea which color would be chosen as the winner!

After the bowl was empty they each sorted by color…Homeschool-3967

We compared Krash and Ladybug’s stacks of the color to determine who had more!Homeschool-3974

She had our nesting blocks out a LOT!Homeschool-4007

Measuring how tall she is next to her stack…Homeschool-4012

She absolutely loves these wooden puzzles {Krash did too at this age}.  She did the dinosaur set this week, over and over again!Tot School Letter X-3903

We have a mini treasure box, which is basically a box of tiny “junk” I find laying around.  There is no theme, nothing super special, but it will entertain her for a long time!  I don’t bring it out often, so it’s fun for her when I do!Homeschool-4022

Lots of creative play goes on with this box of random stuff!Homeschool-4028

Mr Potato Head was out this week too, and she made some adorable creations, as usual!

She had a treat with her Baba coming to visit {my dad}.

Gymnastics continues to be a highlight of her week, she loves it, but it wears her out!

Tot School Printables X is for Xylophone

Letter: Xx

Object: Xylophone

Vocabulary Development Theme: Instruments

Tot Book Extension: Little Einsteins

You can find the printables for this unit here on the Tot School Printables webpage.

I can’t believe we are so close to the end of Tot School Printables!  It is coming at a perfect time.  She still likes them, but not as much as she did in the beginning.  She is ready for something new.  We will be completing the units before the new year and starting something fresh in January when we return from Christmas break! I will be writing a post soon to share what my plans are, I just haven’t had the time yet!

We made play dough letters…IMG_7527

The theme of instruments made me think of one of Ladybug’s favorite shows, Little Einsteins.  I created some extra activities for her, which as you will see she LOVED! Download the Little Einsteins Tot Book for free here!

Little Einsteins Tot Book

She loved the mini book!IMG_7534

We slipped the dot paint sheets into sheet protectors and she squished play dough balls on the dots.IMG_7564

Then she asked to write their names.  Her tracing seriously amazes me.  Her simple desire to trace amazes me to be honest!IMG_7570

We made the shapes with dough too…IMG_7574

Then she dot painted a few of them…IMG_7576

We used dot stickers on some too!IMG_7580

She worked on her rocket colors book over a period of several days.  The other printables also came out numerous times!IMG_7642

I remembered to take a photo of her shelves this week!  Nothing too great, but here they are……IMG_7512

Didn’t take many action shots, but got this one of her stringing her beads!IMG_7653

She loves that Laura Carrot sings.  This is the same manger in the book, The Stable that Bob Built-which she is loving right now!IMG_7710

The instrument box was a hit!  One day we turned on our Laurie Berkner DVD for some movement!  She was shaking her Boca Beth Egg Shakers to the music!IMG_7655

Her Tot Time Notebook {which has only ABC sheets in it right now} gets filled in almost daily-she gravitates towards it on her own and will often sit and work through every single page!IMG_7515

The new Play Dough Box has been a HUGE hit.  She has asked for it daily, almost to an excessive point!IMG_7557

We have been reading a few gingerbread books and there are gingerbread cutters in the box…which has provided TONS of fun for her and the boys!IMG_7694

Moms-Favorite_thumb2_thumb_thumb_thu[1]One night when the boys were at church with Daddy, she begged me to do another Truth in the Tinsel bag.  Instead, we painted another crown craft, and then she didn’t want to stop, so we kept on painting!IMG_7590…and painting…IMG_7595

…and painting!IMG_7601

After a few normal painted sheets, she decided to turn it into finger paint {with my approval}…IMG_7603

IMG_7613She LOVED it!  IMG_7634

Remember last time she painted and painted her arms?  She was starting to do it again and I decided to put the limit on her this time and said just her hands.IMG_7627This was her sorrowful response.  The girl does not like to be told NO!  She listened though, very sadly {and a bit loudly}.IMG_7639

We had such a fun time together, since it was mostly giggles and smiles!  The tears only lasted a few minutes!

Raising Rock Stars Preschool ~ Letter Xx

Raising Rock Stars Preschool Letter X

This is the main section of our preschool posts-focusing on what we do for our Raising Rock Stars Preschool Curriculum. I am not sharing photos of each part every week, just what I happen to catch! We do the entire unit even if I don’t show it here in the photos!

Our letter this week ~ Xx, our verse: EXcept you be converted and become as little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

A view from the floor. I was sitting on the floor working with Krash and looked up and snapped a shot, for those of you who like a peek ;-). We added in BODY books this week to go with X is for X-ray. We also used books focused on Jesus and children.IMG_3311

Krash colors his verse…IMG_3299

He still loves cutting, and was in love with the box and fox cards…first time he really acknowledged rhyming words on his own!!!IMG_3301

He was blown away to find himself in the easy reader 😉IMG_3424

A little cutting, gluing, and matching for the craft of the week…IMG_3793 He was oh-so-thrilled to have this shot taken 😉IMG_3812

This week Pac helped him tape his verse together…

He did really well this week reading and tracking along with the easy reader on the PowerPoint.

The Power Point lessons are located in the Members Only section. You can see a video here showing a PowerPoint lesson. You can learn more about the Members Only section here. The entire printable unit {everything else you see pictured above} is available for FREE on the main RRSP page…

You can download the entire letter Xx unit here.

in the box {A few things that were in his preschool workboxes for the week, not all activities are pictured}

He did one drawing from his Kumon Drawing book this week. This is definitely not his favorite thing, so I don’t push him to do more than one a week for now ;-).IMG_3316

He did #1-7 of our Pom Pom Numbers. He wanted the colors to match {his idea} so we worked together to get them sorted and then figured out which color went on which card {they are self-correcting, as each # is a different color}IMG_3308

Xx’s on a Play Doh matIMG_3825

We did a few fun letter of the week activities. Here he is doing his very first color-by-number! I was amazed with how well he did and how much he enjoyed this!!!IMG_3470

Matching xylophone shapes…IMG_3562

He dot painted a xylophone… IMG_3314

We finally got back to our ABC Crafts and will now be matching the letters we have left with our RRSP units. Here he is making X is for Xray…IMG_3566

He matched clothespin colorsIMG_3467

Pounding the ABCsIMG_3474

He did these 3 Letter puzzles and after he finished them we flipped them over and worked on letter sounds together. He still doesn’t grasp the blending part, but he’ll get it soon, no rush!IMG_3568

star boxes This is where I share the 3 special open-ended toys that were in our Star Boxes for the week.

Our 3 STAR boxes for the week: Foam ABCs, Wedgits, Lacing Beads {which he literally did not touch all week long}. The letters were the favorite item of the week. He had the brilliant idea to connect them all to make a road for his cars…IMG_3321 We did this on more than one day…IMG_3535

Krash likes our Wedgits, but not nearly as much as Ladybug and Pac Man do 😉 IMG_3600

game time IMG_3320

Our game this week was Chutes n Ladders. I must be honest and say this is probably my LEAST favorite children’s game, ever. But, I was a good Mommy and we played I dislike this game because it can go on and on and on and on. 1 chute and you’re history. The boys, however, LOVE this silly game!

See more of our favorite preschool games here.

Life School This is where I share games, toys, and life experiences that occur outside of our planned preschool time.

Although K hasn’t begun to read on his own yet, he is VERY interested in learning to read. He has all of the readiness signs, and we’re just continuing to work with him. By “we” I mean Pac Man also! P loves to teach and thankfully K loves to be taught sometimes! Here Pac was teaching him in great detail using a book he loves.IMG_3781

Krash loves to explore Ladybug’s Tot Trays ;-p, brings back good memories for him I suppose! I try to challenge him a bit with her trays when he shows interest in them. Here I had him trying to drop the stick in while holding them higher . IMG_3373

$5 for a water hopscotch=two VERY happy boys. Krash loved learning to play hopscotch ;-P {it was from Target}IMG_3338

Anyone else watch Minute to Win It? We are in LOVE, Krash is attempting Noodling Around 😉IMG_3532

Tot School

~Krash is currently 44.5 months old~

We were gone from Sunday-Tuesday and then unpacking and resettling again on Wednesday, so we had very little time to do Tot School at home. We made the most of the time we had though and are looking forward to many full weeks ahead with no other vacations planned in the next few months!

Learning Toys

Krash played with a lot of learning toys in our 2 days at home, I just didn’t have the camera out ;-)/ Here are the 2 moments I did capture, his favorite puzzles (this is his dino set). IMG_9640

I am so glad I caught this sweet moment of P helping K working on his lower case letter puzzle…IMG_9646

Post SubTitles ABC

We got 2 letters done as we look forward to finishing up this series and moving on with new letter projects and plans! First Krash made Ww for wagon(idea from Ramblings of a Crazy Woman) …IMG_9661

Then we worked with Xx. I usually put all of the letter items on display for him but decided to try something new this week and I like it this way much better and he did too. I collected everything and put it in a little basket (got these for $1 at Target last week).IMG_9682

I then had him pull the various items (flashcards, magnets, bean bags, puzzles) out…IMG_9685

Of course he asked for a xylophone!IMG_9687

Then he dot-painted his Xylophone X, which was also great color work!IMG_9690

Then he put together his own Xylophone X (idea from No Time for Flashcards)!IMG_9694

Life School

Krash got to swim TONS while away on our annual winter staff retreat. We stay in a retreat center with our entire church staff family, which is wonderful. There are tons of kids and Krash just LOVES it all!IMG_9514
