{Disclosure – This is a post sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association and SparkySchoolhouse.org.}
October is Fire Prevention Month and Fire Prevention Week is October 7 – 13, 2018. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is educators’ go-to source for Fire Prevention Week 2018 resources. This is a great time to add some fire safety learning to your lesson plans for your classroom or homeschool.
NFPA has exclusive, instructive fire prevention week materials for teachers and parents that will make essential and important fire safety learning engaging and memorable for children. All materials are geared towards preschool through primary elementary school aged kids.
I want to be sure you know about both FREE websites filled with resources for you.
SparkySchoolhouse.org – Sparky Schoolhouse is NFPA’s teacher portal for fire safety education and my personal favorite, Sparky.org – a great site filled with printables, activities and more for children’s education.
FREE PRINTABLE ACTIVITIES
I know many of my readers have younger kids, I went looking around for some printables that you might enjoy using with your kids to teach fire safety. These were just a couple of my favorites from Sparky.org.
Click on the ACTIVITIES button un the menu to find the printable activities!
It’s no secret that I love free printables for kids and this site is filled! Here is a screenshot from the printables activity page where you will find over 50 printable activities!
I scoured the options and chose some of my favorites! My kids LOVE hidden picture activities and I found several!
Stop, Drop & Roll is one of the most important lessons we teach our kids when discussing fire safety. This coloring page is a great visual reminder for young kids.
RESOURCES FOR PARENTS
Another section I want to be sure you don’t miss is the resources for parents. If you click on the word PARENTS at the top of the website you’ll find this awesome section, a portion shown in the screenshot below.
