First, let me welcome you to my little corner of the web. 1+1+1=1 is a blog that began in 2007 and has grown beyond my wildest dreams! If you are brand new, chances are you are a bit overwhelmed and not sure where to start! I hope this post helps you navigate through the gobs of information available here.

About Our Family

We are a Christian homeschooling family with two parents, three kids, two dogs, five cats, one turtle, and a constantly rotating foster kittens. Our family began homeschooling out of necessity in 2006, but continued because it worked!

As for me, the one who actually writes this blog, I don’t like writing about that portion as much as I like writing about the people I love, but I know I love to read about {and see a photo} the other women online whose blogs I visit, so here’s a bit about who I am. My name is Carisa ~ yes only 1 s. Here is a photo of my family taken in May 2025.

In addition to homeschooling, I spend my time fostering kittens! I began fostering kittens in 2020 and it has become my mid-life passion! Be sure to follow along with me on my foster kitten Instagram account if you like kittens!

My Children

When my children were growing up I mostly kept their real names semi-private. I used blog names for them in print, which was out of respect for them and their future online privacy. It was just something we tried to be mindful of mostly so their names were not searchable online. Online we called them: Pac Man {oldest son}, Krash {middle son}, and Ladybug {youngest daughter}.

These kids are much older now and have their own online presence. My oldest is currently 23 and works in the robotics field. My middle son is a sophomore in college, and my daughter is in 11th grade for the 2025-2026 homeschool year.
