If your kids love cats and Halloween, they are going to have fun with these new Halloween Cats Mini Books! These little books are a fun, simple way to add some Halloween learning to your homeschool while giving young children something they can make, read, and enjoy.
These mini books were inspired by our popular Fall Mini Books post. That set has been a favorite with families looking for simple fall-themed learning activities, so I decided to create a new set just for Halloween. If you know me, you know I love cats (I actually foster kittens; see that account here), so including cats was an easy decision!
Free Halloween Mini Books
This Halloween Cats Mini Books printable is completely free to download and use for single classroom or home use.
The printable includes two different mini books, giving young learners a chance to practice early literacy, positional words, and counting with an adorable Halloween cat theme.
Where Is the Cat?
The first mini book is called Where Is the Cat? Children read simple sentences that describe where the cat is located.
They will practice positional words and concepts such as:
- in
- behind
- between
- beside
- on
For example, children will read sentences such as, “The cat is in the pumpkin” and “The cat is behind the ghost.”
This is a great little activity for helping young children build vocabulary while also practicing reading simple sentences.
How Many Cats?
The second mini book focuses on counting from 1 to 5. Children practice reading and identifying numbers as they count the Halloween cats.
The book includes simple sentences such as “I see one cat,” “I see two cats,” and “I see three cats,” continuing through five cats.
This makes the printable a fun way to combine Halloween, cats, early math, and beginning reading in one simple activity.

How to Prepare the Halloween Cats Mini Books
These little books are very easy to prepare, which is one of the reasons I love mini books for homeschool learning. All you need to do is print, cut, and staple. The pages are designed with dotted cutting lines, so preparation is quick and straightforward.
I took a few photos while preparing the books so you can see exactly how simple they are to put together. Print the pages, cut along the lines, and staple the pages together. That’s it! In just a few minutes, your child will have a little Halloween book ready to read and enjoy.
