What’s Included in the Halloween I Spy Printable?

I designed this printable with several options so you can use it in different ways. The PDF includes a full-color Halloween I Spy board, a black-and-white version, matching mini cards in both styles, and two bonus cut-and-sort activities.

You can choose the version that works best for your child or print several pages and try the activity in different ways.

Full-Color Halloween I Spy

The colorful I Spy page is the simplest place to begin, especially with younger children. Kids can search the large board for each Halloween picture shown on the mini cards.

For an easier matching activity, cut apart the color cards. Then, have your child choose one card at a time and find the identical picture on the I Spy board.

This simple activity encourages children to slow down and look closely at details. They are comparing colors, shapes, and visual features while searching for each match.

Black-and-White Halloween I Spy

The black-and-white pages add a fun coloring element to the activity. Instead of simply finding each picture, kids can color the image when they locate it.

There are several ways to combine the color and black-and-white pages. For example, cut apart the colorful cards and let your child select one. Then, find that picture on the black-and-white I Spy page and color it. You can even take turns for a simple activity to enjoy together.

Another easy option is to leave both black-and-white sheets whole. Children can color each picture on their matching sheet as they locate it on the I Spy board.

Bonus Halloween Sorting Activities

I also included two Halloween cut-and-sort activities in this free printable pack.

Children cut apart the pictures and decide where each one belongs. The two sorting boards focus on:

• Pumpkins or Candy
• Animals or Pumpkins

These activities add another layer of learning because children must look at each image, identify it, and decide which category fits. The printable can be used as a cut-and-glue worksheet, or you can laminate the pieces to make the sorting activity reusable.

Sorting is a simple early learning skill that works especially well with seasonal themes. Additionally, cutting the small cards gives children extra fine motor practice.
