Many years ago when I taught Kindergarten in a public school, I enjoyed using Read & Write the Room with my students. I used this idea with my own children when they were younger, see our original post about this here. Since I am teaching Kindergarten again, I am using Read & Write the Room weekly with my students! You can see all about our Read & Write the Room A to Z here and see it in action here!
What is Read & Write the Room?
The concept is very simple. Word cards are placed around the room to be read and as students locate the cards, they write the words on a recording sheet. Read more here, including how to set it up, why it is a great activity for emerging readers, and more!
Christmas Words
I am excited to share our new Christmas Theme Read and Write the Room with you today! This free printable set includes 12 different Christmas words: Santa, reindeer, hat, elf, snowman, tree, fireplace, bell, lights, ornament, stocking, and candy cane. Each card emphasizes the beginning letter of each word, which is a great review for children who are learning letters and letter sounds!
