Why study butterflies?
Why are butterflies fun to study? Glad you asked!
Butterflies are engaging for children for many reasons, their beauty being the main one. They are gentle insects that kids can watch without fear of getting stung or bitten. This is a major plus for many kids (& adults!).
There are so many things to learn from butterflies at any age. It’s a great topic for a homeschool unit study and can draw the interest of many children in various grade levels. Younger kids can explore colors, counting, classifying, patterns, matching, and so much more. Older kids can learn about life cycles, insects, taxonomy, and much MUCH more!
The list is truly endless and since butterflies are so beautiful and engaging, why not develop a unit study for your homeschool?!
