The Adventures of Reddy Fox by Thornton Burgess is a timeless classic that has captivated readers young and old for generations. Published in 1913, this public domain book continues to enchant audiences with its charming characters, vivid descriptions of the natural world, and timeless life lessons. I recently discovered this book and more wonderful books for children in the public domain and have decided to begin creating resources for these books, including PDF downloads since I am free to do this without copyright restrictions thanks to the public domain! Today I am sharing a free PDF download of the book The Adventures of Reddy Fox featuring photographs of the animals in the story.
This book, which I recommend for kids ages 7-10 (grades 2-5) is a classic children’s book that follows the lively and mischievous Reddy Fox as he embarks on various adventures in the Green Forest. Set in a world where animals talk and behave like humans, the story unfolds with Reddy’s encounters with fellow forest creatures, challenges from Farmer Brown’s boy, and his clever attempts to outsmart his friends and foes alike. If your child loves animals, this is a great book to read aloud to them!
About Thornton Burgess…
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the genius behind the story – Thornton Burgess. A naturalist and conservationist, Burgess dedicated his life to educating children about the wonders of the animal kingdom and the importance of preserving nature. His love for wildlife is evident in the pages of “The Adventures of Reddy Fox,” where he weaves entertaining tales while imparting valuable lessons about the environment. This isn’t the only book he wrote but is the first in a series of books featuring these beloved animals.
Download your free PDF book…
I created a webpage to feature all of the resources I create to go along with this book. The free download of the book itself is first. I have more planned and they will be added to this page along with their download links.
