North America Country by Country

North America Country by Country Geography

Recently we released AFRICA Country by Country, EUROPE Country by Country, and SOUTH AMERICA Country by Country! Today we have our next set in our new Country by Country seriesNORTH AMERICA!  We have also released a GROWING BUNDLE option which you can purchase to gain access to ALL of our Country by Country products, including our new Jeopardy games {more about this near end of post}!

Each country has one page with a place to write the country’s name and the capital city’s name. There is also a small map of each country and a large blank map of North America to color in the country’s location on the map. I also included the country’s flag to color and one interesting fact about each country. I had SO much fun choosing the facts and I highly recommend taking a few minutes to do a quick online search for “Fun Facts About _________” as you go through each country. We are doing our countries in alphabetical order, but you can do them in any order!

A few other helpful pages are included in this set, which will help with some of the items on the individual country pages.

I used our binding machine to bind the pages together to create a book that’s easy to work through. Not sure how I made it so long as a homeschooler without my binding machine!

Our Jeopardy games are created to make learning about the world fun and ongoing. What is the point of learning locations, capitals, flags, and more if only to forget when you close the book. Jeopardy is a fun way to keep the facts fresh for everyone! See North America Jeopardy here.

World Geography ~ North America Printables

Free North America Printables

In continuation of our world geography studies this year, we have a new set of printables for you that go along with the next book we are using!  We finished up the book Passport to the World and are now using Children’s Atlas of Gods World.  Since our country cards were such a great tool for my kids, I knew I needed something for them to work on as we learned.

This new book is divided by continents so I made a notebooking page for each continent and then the countries featured in the book. I added a flag, a map, and some basic facts about each country we read about.

Childrens-Atlas-of-Gods-World1

Today I am sharing our North America printables with you!  You’ll find a notebooking page for North America, U.S.A., Mexico, and Canada. I also included an answer guide at the end of the PDF file. These printables are specific to this book so I would definitely recommend using these alongside of the book. If you looking for a more generic North America printable set, try these North America printables from Homeschool Creations!

Here’s a few action shots, showing my kids working with me. Right now we are working on one page for a week, studying a country or continent 2 days per week  We do this all together at the dining room table.  My kids are Kindergarten, 3rd and 7th grades. They each have their own worksheet and follow along with me as I write notes on the dry erase board.

Below you can see the book we are using in the bottom left corner and the Children Just Like Me book that we pulled in to study the Inuit people on the day we did Canada. We are directly using Children Just Like Me a lot wit this study as we come to a country that has a child featured in this book. This was shared on Instagram here!

Ladybug mostly draws for her empty boxes, so I try to give her an example.  Sometimes she wants to copy words too.  The boys both copy the words or write their own.

My Simple Geography Goals

  • Find the country on a large map
  • Identify the capital city
  • Identify the continent the country is on
  • Color the flag
  • Discuss facts presented in the book we are using currently

Be sure to grab our country cards and see what we did using the book Passport to the World as our focus.

Continent Box ~ North America

Continent Box North America

We enjoyed our Europe Continent Box and then I fell off the wagon.  I had grand plans for the year, but just got behind in prep time.  But finally, I added another box to our year, right at the end!

{disclaimer~there are affiliate links in this post, also a giveaway!}

I have North America set up like this {see photo below}. I have a large puzzle of North America, and the board of North America from Where in the World {I added the cards into the box}. Our Little Passports goodies from Mexico are in the box too!

I pulled out some North American animals we had from our collection, our US Presidents and USA books {from Target}, and our big World Map Puzzle {similar to this one, couldn’t find mine online}.

Continent Box North America -3487

I bought my boxes from Walmart, in 2 different sizes {small 6.7qt, large 12.7qt} knowing I would need bigger ones for continents with more stuff! I made simple labels that color-coordinate with Montessori geography colors {free download here}. This box is the bigger of the 2 sizes I bought.

What’s Inside?

I currently have a few of the extras in these little blue bins from Ikea, hooked to the photo ledge from Ikea also.Continent Box North America -3489

We have a few materials from Montessori Print Shop! Thankfully I was given their bundle to review over a year ago year. Specifically I am using the North America Geography Folder {I made ours as a book in sheet protectors}, North American Animals,  & North American Landmarks. You can see I hung our 3 part cards up on metal rings and hooks. The shelf they are hanging on is a photo ledge from Ikea. Be sure to read to the end for a giveaway!

Continent Box North America -3492

I created a few printables for the box which you can download for free on my Continent Boxes webpage in the North America section. I also used some printables from other sources. I will list out everything shown below with links, it is all laminated and in our box.

There’s also the Continent Kids Coloring for North America {free download on the Continent Boxes webpage}…Continent Kids: North America

Here you can see us exploring together, there’s no real plan. The kids can explore the box on their own, and I also am taking time to explore together. It’s amazing what they absorb just from exploring and us talking about what they are doing!

Puzzles are a BIG favorite with all 3 kids!  Ladybug loves them the most!Continent Box North America -3529
