You Can Read: Review
RRSK: Letter Mm & Nn
Theme: Star Wars
You can download all of the printables for this unit FREE here on the main RRSK page, just scroll down until you see them! We have backed off from doing all 10 of the provided activities in the RRSK units. As he progresses, some items aren’t necessary anymore and either we skip them or go through them quickly. My main goal in using the RRSK lessons is the Bible work and simple review of other K skills.
I haven’t posted in awhile, so I am combining letter Mm and Nn in this post!
Gluing his letter M verse…
Calendar Math from Letter N pack…
Here is Krash singing letter M for you, the tune is “Are You Sleeping.” The printable written out the way you sing it for LETTER M is here!
Here is Krash singing letter N for you, the tune is “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” The printable written out the way you sing it for LETTER N is here!
RRSK Letter Mm and Nn Printables Here!
If you want early access to printables beyond what I have blogged about, you can see info about purchasing here! Currently I have units Aa-Rr available in the early access section.
Krash has completed all 18 units from You Can Read, so we are spending time reviewing the words he knows! Here’s a bit of what we have done together recently.
I gave him the final word reading assessment {YCR add-on}, he only missed a few and was really excited!
He completed the 10 minute writing words assessment and wrote 28 words on his own!
Check out Word Play ideas here, and add yours!
We began reviewing All About Reading Level 1 awhile ago, and Krash continues to make consistent progress. You can read more about why we are choosing to review this homeschool reading program here in our “Current Curriculum” post {see FAQ}.
I wrote a lot about our initial thoughts and experiences with AAR in this Kindergarten with Krash post.
We are moving along and I am honestly so thrilled with K’s progress, he has mastered th, ch, and sh!
He loved the feed the mouse activity!
He really enjoys his reading book, I even caught him reading during his free time one day {a RARE thing for this active boy}
It was Star Wars week for Krash! It was his choice and he now knows ALL of the characters and everything else. Daddy LOVED Star Wars as a kid so had a blast watching the movies with the boys for the first time.
Matching characters and names…
I made the props into magnets on our cookie sheet, he and Ladybug both loved these!
We made words using the Read, Build, Write cards. He doesn’t love these so we only did a few. He likes them a lot better using the cookie sheet and the matching character!
Working on the Starfighter book…
His big brother was at a used books sale with a friend and found 5 Star Wars books and bought them for Krash!!! I was thrilled with his kindness and so was Krash!
Krash spends most morning playing, he isn’t allowed to “play” with electronics, but is free to choose anything else for the most part. I loved the day he chose dominoes and built this!
We are still enjoying www.Cookie.com. It has tons of cute games for young kids and the layout of the site is easy to navigate. Here he was reading one of the stories.
I recently upgraded on Starfall to the “More Starfall” section for Ladybug, it is her favorite site and she was THRILLED to have the rest of the games open up! Thankfully there’s lots on it for Krash too, here he was doing some addition…
iPad learning fun. We have received many free apps lately, I have been sharing them all on my Facebook page as we find them, so be sure to follow me over there if you are interested! Apps by Auryn gave away a free book a day for the month of March-K’s favorites are definitely the Miko books! We have also gotten 2 new Toca Boca apps…Toca Store and Toca Kitchen Monsters! Here they are playing Toca Store-which encourages 2 kids to interact together and take turns, it is wonderful!
I get asked a lot about our iPad 2 case-it’s the Trident Kraken II and yes we love it! See all of our posts about iPad apps and more here! The stylus we have that he uses sometimes is this one.
A few items we used…
