A New {oily} Journey

My friend Jodi {Granola Mom 4 God} has sat beside of me at a few blog conferences.  We bonded online first, and then in real life.  In real life I was able to smell certain smells and see her tiny bottles in person, and honestly my first thought was, “that’s weird, but I love her anyway.”

You see, Jodi is into essential oils, Young Living Oils to be exact. She carries her little bottles around and has a solution for everything.  She will gladly anoint you with oil for many ailments! She has even begun making videos to help us newbies out!

About a year ago I said I was ready to try it, we began talking and although I still thought it a bit strange, I was willing to learn.  Well, a year later I am finally making good on my word.  My starter kit is in the mail heading to me right now!

So, Jodi set up a page for me on HER site, so you can sign up under me, which is also under her!  So, you still get the cool book she sends out and support from her, while also supporting my family – cool huh?  Yeah, she’s awesome like that.

My package hasn’t even arrived yet, so I can’t claim anything awesome about using essential oils, but Jodi can, and I trust her, fully.  If you are interested in learning and joining me on this new oily journey, head on over to the page she has on her site for me and learn more!

Teach Them Diligently

Teach Them Diligently Convention

The following is a guest post written by David Nunnery, for Teach Them Diligently.  Although I will be unable to attend any of the 2013 conventions, I am honored to have them as a blog sponsor and am excited to spread the word about this amazing opportunity.  If you live close to one of the venues {Spartanburg, SC; Nashville, TN; and Omaha, NE}, I pray you will have the opportunity to attend! The focus of missions is obviously near to my heart, what a wonderful way to combine so many aspects of parenting, Christian faith and homeschooling all into one convention!

The Teach Them Diligently Convention was born out of a recognized need for more events celebrating the focus of Christian Homeschool Families—which is to disciple their children to glorify God. The organizers of this Convention are also officers of Worldwide Tentmakers which is a Mission Agency focused on Tentmaking as a missions strategy as you would find in Acts 18. Therefore, Missions, discipleship, and parenting will be a large focus for the Teach Them Diligently Convention. This will be added to the normal Homeschool Convention focus on teaching techniques and use of curriculum.

Second, all of the profits for the Teach Them Diligently Convention will go to missions. It is our hope to help parents infuse their educational programs with a Great Commission focus. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God (I Cor. 10:31). We desire to focus parents and children on the fact that we should be seeking opportunities to spread the fame of our Lord Jesus Christ whether through school, playing sports, or running the family business.

Certainly, families attend Homeschool Conventions to learn and buy new educational products and to hear speakers and attend workshops. Another driving motivation is camaraderie. I know this is true with my wife and myself. After spending vast amounts of time with people in churches and larger family outings where there are few homeschoolers around, there is this underlying feeling that your focus and parenting do not match those around you. Then at a Convention, a mom or dad or child is suddenly surrounded with several thousand homeschool families. By further specifying that this is a Christian Homeschool Convention in which the vast majority of the families are attending because of their desire to disciple their children, it is our belief that camaraderie will be that much more enhanced.

So in conclusion, why should your family attend the Teach Them Diligently Convention?

•It will be enjoyable!

•Great Speakers and workshops

•Fellowship with other Christian Homeschool Families and Speakers

•Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding

•Shopping and Introduction to new educational products

If you are a Christian Homeschool Family, this is the Convention you want to attend. There will be something for everyone.  Our featured speakers this year are Pam Tebow, mom of Tim Tebow; Ken Ham, of Answers in Genesis; Sally Clarkson, and Heidi St. John.

Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Convention Speakers

We also have many other terrific speakers you will not want to miss and a large exhibit hall.  All three of our conventions are in May 2013 in Spartanburg, SC; Nashville, TN; and Omaha, NE.  Hope to see you there!  www.teachthemdiligently.net.

Family Binder ~ Back on the Wagon

I have been making my own organizational forms for years.  I have even had my own family management binder for years.  But, this past year I totally fell off of the wagon.  I was a complete family binder dropout.  Last week I got back on the streak and decided to just join ListPlanIt instead of reinventing the wheel, again.

Lists to Put Your World in Order

There was a coupon code in the back of 31 Days to Clean so I jumped on it one evening and began printing away!

I think I am successfully back on track and oh does it ever feel good!

List Plan It Family Binder

A few of the pages were things I have used before.  But I have added a few new pages after inspiration I got from browsing through the forms at ListPlanIt.  One of my favorite new sections is my “A Month of Blog Topics” sheet.  You can see portions of it in the 2 bottom photos in the collage above.  I am filling all predictable posts {Moments to Remember, Tot School, and my Totally Tots posts}, then using the rest to brainstorm and assign days for upcoming posts so I don’t forget!  Another thing I did was add a few sections that are in sheet protectors, so I can use a Vis a Vis to write on them and just erase-to save printing.   I also went back to using the 3 ring pouch to store these pens as well as my pencil {I always use pencil in my binder}.

Two sections I am still working on are our family medical section and our financial info section.  In all I have the following sections so far: Calendar/To Do, Blogging/Online Management, Family Medical, Contacts/Financial Info, Bills, Shopping Lists/Misc.

I am thankful that I jumped in and purchased my membership to ListPlanIt.  Even though some of the forms aren’t as prettied-up as I might make them, they are printed and being used-that is the important part! DO any of you use ListPlanIt?  Have a blog post about your own Family Binder?  Leave a link in the comments below, I’d love to see it!
