I do not cook. I don’t like to cook, not even breakfast or lunch that gets poured out of a box. Here’s my big problem…I DO like to feed my children healthy meals–you normally have to cook those. I am blessed with a husband who loves to cook–he worked in a restaurant at one point back in the day, so he cooks dinner for us. He even takes care of breakfast duty for me…praise him. I am responsible for one simple meal-lunch. Wanna know how I feed my children on many days…
Yup, in a cup. His whole meal is in there and the best part–no whining because he loves it!
What’s in it??
- blueberries, raspberries, blackberries (or any other berry I get my hands on fresh or frozen)
- banana
- vanilla yogurt (or plain whichever I have in the big tub)
- ground flax seed (grind it right before you serve it for the health benefit)
- OJ
- and the best ingredient…broccoli!!
Yes my friends my wonderful smoothies always contain some sort of vege that K won’t normally eat: broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, peas, etc. K has no clue and gulps it down.
P knows however, and I always make him a separate one :). He is good about consuming a variety of veges so I don’t have to sneak with him.
Although I don’t cook a lot (I actually do occasionally) I do have and love this book– Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food. I also couldn’t live without my Magic Bullet for our special lunches.

Wow! That smoothie looks so good. I have a similar book called The sneaky chef. It’s great how we can disguise the healthy stuff that for some reason little ones “think” they can’t like. 🙂
Have a great week!
