Christmas Gift Ideas for Boys

This is a new gift idea category this year, focused on PacMan who is 9.  He has approved everything in this post and helped me come up with the suggestions!  Although Pac is 9, he is a bit of a younger kid at heart…meaning he still enjoys toys geared for younger kids too.  So, keep that in mind with his recommendations.  Some boys his age might be way too cool for some of the things he loves!

I get asked a lot about gift ideas, so I thought it might be helpful to throw a few out there with some mini reviews on each item. We personally own everything I recommend, and I will never recommend something we don’t love!

I am also a believer in LESS is MORE, so although I recommend things, please know that things don’t make us happy…they are just a small addition to an already full life in Christ. I don’t in any way believe that Christmas is about stuff. I realize gifts are a natural part {especially from grandparents!}, and I love getting recommendations also, which is why I share with you! I may add to the list as I think of other ideas, so be sure to check back!

This is my list of ideas for boys, gearing towards ages 6-10. I will link to everything where I find the best online price {most of the time it is Amazon}. Bibles

• The Jesus Storybook Bible {Pac really loves this right now, we are reading it nightly and almost done}
• Hands-On Bible ~ this is his bedroom Bible and is one of his favorites, he reads this one at night.
• Adventure Bible ~ his other favorite Bible, he has the version I linked to but I think they have an updated newer version too.

 

Books/DVDs

• Will the Mighty Warrior {more for the 6-8 crowd}
• The Imagination Station Books {aimed at ages 7 & up, a bit too easy for Pac but he still likes them-we are reading the Plymouth one aloud together with Krash right now}
• What’s in the Bible DVDs ~ Pac LOVES these.  Krash likes them, but Pac loves them!
• Max Lucado Books ~ he loves the longer ones; Just the Way You Are, and All You Ever Need are two of his favorites.

   

Music

• Seeds Family Worship {review here}
• Yancy: Rock n Happy Heart {review}
• TobyMac ~ ABSOLUTE favorite of both of my boys {Christian hip-hop if you aren’t familiar}

 

 

Toys

• Perplexus ~ he got this recently and it is hard but he loves it.
• Rubiks 360 ~ had this since last year and still loves it.
• Bop It! ~ loves it!
• Frigits ~ all 3 kids LOVE this!
• Zoobs ~ family favorite!
• Magneatos {Play with Me post here} ~another family favorite!
• Locking Ladders ~ Pac loves these!
• Trio Blocks ~ He and Krash both love these.  We have this castle set and a few others.
• Legos ~ he loves Legos and loves getting new sets most years from the grandparents!
• Card Works ~ he has had this for so long and loves it, he now builds without the clips, but still loves this set!

 

  

  

  

Games

• UNO Spin ~He loves any Uno game, but this is his favorite.
• Blokus ~ family favorite!
• Qwirkle  ~ we all love this game, we even use the pieces for Tot School!  Pac loves playing this one with just mom and dad!
• BINGO ~ he loves the simple set he got for his bday last spring.
• Hyper Dash  ~ we have the older version and they still love it.
• Angry Birds ~he plays with this a LOT.
• Pick & Draw {review here} ~ he would play this everyday.
• Backseat Drawing {review here} ~ we don’t play as often as he would like!

             

 

The BIG Gift

• Ripstick ~ Pac has this one and loves it!
• Nintendo DSi {my boys each have the DSi, but of course they want they newer version-not happening} Pac’s favorite games that I love too are…
  • Scribblenauts
  • Professor Layton and the Curious Village
  • Mario Kart ~ I love listening to Krash and Pac play this synced up together {each on his own DS}
• iPod Nano or Touch ~ Pac has a Nano and loves it, I love that his cds aren’t slung around his room any longer.  He would prefer a Touch but for the price and the fact that he can use ours, we went for the Nano just to hold his music.
• ihome iPod Color Changing Speaker ~ this is in the boys’ room and they LOVE it!
• Plasma Car ~ {review here}
• Bean Bag Chair ~ {review here}
