Here is her desk set up for letter E…
The items in the pocket chart are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage. I added elephants on her desk, including both of our Webkinz Elephants! {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter E is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.
We also had several elephant books off to the side in her pink basket. Our Betty Lukens Safari Felt Set was displayed for her also.
Here are some Letter E and Elephant ideas for you…
She did a lot of notebook work again,
…thankfully I caught the notebook one day after she was finished with a round of writing!
Here she is working on Letter E Dot Fun, she chose to use stickers. I offered her the option of using pom pom magnets, dot paint, or stickers and she chose stickers, again! This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.
She worked with me to make the letter craft, which is basically an open ended project that you can do whatever you want with! We used gray “snow paint” at her request! She painted her letter E, then we stuck her elephants right in the paint, since it has glue in the mixture, this worked perfectly! No photos of this part, my hands were a mess along with hers!
After painting our letter, we sent the elephants to the “spa.” She had SO much fun with this, rubbing them in shaving cream!!
Hopefully I have a plastic animal for all of our units so we can do this, she loves it!
Here is the completed letter E…
I showed her my Elephant Theme Pinterest board and let her choose an activity she wanted to do, she chose the elephant cut and glue from Making Learning Fun! I did the cutting, helped her with the gluing a bit, and she did the coloring on her own!

Special Note: Please read my post about Following the Child’s Lead if you have a tot and need info about this. All tots are different and what Ladybug is doing may not be appropriate for your child, even if s/he is the same age!
We are taking our All About Reading Pre Level 1 lessons slowly. I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.
This week we did lesson 5, continuing our work with rhyming words. First we did a lot of oral work, matching all of the pictures together. Then we chose a few and played a memory game.
We read the letter E story and she asked to look through the book herself. She LOVED the cat story and giggled as she “read” it!
She added dot paint “peanuts” for the elephant to eat on her letter E page…
She loves Starfall and can manage the site almost entirely on her own now! She loves the little story activities!
She also loves just sitting and watching Krash do whatever he is working on!
She laced the beads for awhile but definitely preferred stacking them!
Krash is having “Webkinz” week for his school so all of our pets are in the schoolroom and she is LOVING this! I can’t count how many times she has lined them up in some way!
Playing pop beads with Pac Man…
