Five Little Chicks Kindergarten Literature Unit in Action

I am sad that this is one of our last Kindergarten Literature Units,  unless I decide to do more this summer.  I had a few more I wanted to create and do with her, so we will see!

This one, Five Little Chicks, was inspired by her recent obsession with chickens.

Five Little Chicks Kindergarten Literature Unit in Action

I love setting up a central area for our theme focus and my daughter loves it too.  I gather our toys and books together and display them the night before we begin our unit. It helps to draw her in and get her excited about our learning time together. For this unit, we gathered our stuffed chickens, our farm magnets, and displayed our chicken books.

A very simple sensory tub, with popcorn kernels and little chickens.  The little gold pipe cleaner pieces are worms. She LOVED this tub, and it is still out even though our unit is done.

Five Little Chicks Kindergarten Literature Unit Printables

Our next Kindergarten Literature Unit Study Printable Pack is ready, Five Little Chicks  by Nancy Tafuri!  We are technically closer to 1st grade now so I adapted this set to her needs.  It would be a better pack for later in the Kindergarten year for most children.

My daughter has recently developed an obsession with chickens.  I created this unit based on the book Five Little Chicks because of that!

In this printable unit you will find a sample lesson plan.  I provide a lesson plan idea, but even I probably won’t follow this, it is just an idea.  Make this work for you and your child!
