I wrote about my views on using themes with young kids, and there are certainly a LOT of early childhood themes to choose from!

If you are like me, at times you choose a letter and build on it for a week or so with your tot/preschooler. It helps me stay focused as a teacher and not forget things! Having a letter of the week is not important, or necessary, it is just helpful for my type-A personality. In honor of this, I have created a series of planning help posts, gathering together all themed printable packs I could find that could extend a letter of the week.

Other times, I build on a theme with no focus on our letter of the week. These lists will help you find things in an orderly fashion!

When you begin planning, Pinterest and Google can be a bit overwhelming!  I am creating this series to help you with your planning.  I have gathered all FREE theme based printable packs {mainly early childhood focused, tots-1st grade} that I am aware of and sorted them by letter so you can browse through and get ideas all in one place! I did NOT include holiday based packs, simply because there are so many and they are pretty easy to find when holidays roll around.

I have included free printable theme packs from bloggers around the web including; Homeschool Creations, 2 Teaching Mommies, Spell Outloud, 3 Dinosaurs, Confessions of a Homeschooler, Me & Marie Learning, Ooopsey Daisy, All Our Days, Creative Learning Fun, Royal Baloo, 123 Homeschool 4 Me, Lawteedah, Our Little Monkeys, Creative Preschool Resources, Our Country Road, Homeschool Share, Preschool Mom, Gift of Curiosity, and Over the Big Moon. {if any of you ladies notice an error please let me know!}

If the pack was created by another blogger, I listed their {blog name} in the brackets.  If there aren’t any brackets, I made it!

Our letter this week ~ Ee, our verse:

Letter Ee Bible Verse

See RRSP Letter Ee with Krash here!

Not familiar with RRSP? Read the intro post here!

She does about 2 RRSP activities per day plus the PowerPoint on most days.

She was very into her Skylanders this particular week, so they joined us for a few activities.  Here she was using the egg from the RRSP Letter Ee craft to practice positional words with the Skylanders…

After we played with the egg, she glued it “in” the basket with the Bible verse.Home-Preschool-Letter-Ee--12634

She loves using the dry erase center for her tracing…Home-Preschool-Letter-Ee--11838

We used our measuring tape to measure our verse after she cut and taped it! This has become a regular thing now and it is a great way to bring in basic measurement and number ID in a natural way!Home-Preschool-Letter-Ee--11818

The entire printable unit {everything else you see pictured above} is available for FREE!

We don’t have a special theme going on each week, this was a theme-less week.  I just found some alphabet books and opened the pages to Letter E

Our ABC Find It activities are probably her favorite thing, she was excited to see the new Letter C sheet! We are using the printables 3 different ways, the first day I let her do a sensory bin search to find all of the little cards. Her elephant helped her this week.Home-Preschool-Letter-Ee--11764

We buried the image cards in our ball pit and Krash helped her find them all!

Tot School ~ Letter E

~Ladybug is currently 34 months old~

Here is her desk set up for letter E…

The items in the pocket chart are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage.  I added elephants on her desk, including both of our Webkinz Elephants! {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter E is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.

We also had several elephant books off to the side in her pink basket. Our Betty Lukens Safari Felt Set was displayed for her also.

Here are some Letter E and Elephant ideas for you…

She did a lot of notebook work again, IMG_1424

…thankfully I caught the notebook one day after she was finished with a round of writing!

Here she is working on Letter E Dot Fun, she chose to use stickers.  I offered her the option of using pom pom magnets, dot paint, or stickers and she chose stickers, again!  This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.IMG_1471

She worked with me to make the letter craft, which is basically an open ended project that you can do whatever you want with!  We used gray “snow paint” at her request!  She painted her letter E, then we stuck her elephants right in the paint, since it has glue in the mixture, this worked perfectly!  No photos of this part, my hands were a mess along with hers!

After painting our letter, we sent the elephants to the “spa.”  She had SO much fun with this, rubbing them in shaving cream!!IMG_1413

Hopefully I have a plastic animal for all of our units so we can do this, she loves it!IMG_1417

Here is the completed letter E…IMG_1457

I showed her my Elephant Theme Pinterest board and let her choose an activity she wanted to do, she chose the elephant cut and glue from Making Learning Fun!  I did the cutting, helped her with the gluing a bit, and she did the coloring on her own!IMG_1455

Special Note: Please read my post about Following the Child’s Lead if you have a tot and need info about this.  All tots are different and what Ladybug is doing may not be appropriate for your child, even if s/he is the same age!

We are taking our All About Reading Pre Level 1 lessons slowly.  I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.

This week we did lesson 5, continuing our work with rhyming words.  First we did a lot of oral work, matching all of the pictures together.  Then we chose a few and played a memory game.

IMG_1489 IMG_1491

We read the letter E story and she asked to look through the book herself.  She LOVED the cat story and giggled as she “read” it!IMG_1505

She added dot paint “peanuts” for the elephant to eat on her letter E page… IMG_1499

Techy TotShe loves Starfall and can manage the site almost entirely on her own now!  She loves the little story activities!IMG_1488

She also loves just sitting and watching Krash do whatever he is working on!IMG_1493

Learning-Toys_thumb2_thumb_thumb_thuShe laced the beads for awhile but definitely preferred stacking them!

IMG_1511 IMG_1515

Krash is having “Webkinz” week for his school so all of our pets are in the schoolroom and she is LOVING this!  I can’t count how many times she has lined them up in some way!IMG_1389

Kindergarten with Krash ~ YCR/unit 12, RRSK/Ff, Theme/Pumpkins

You Can Read: Unit 12 {she, who, this, away}

RRSK: Letter Ff

Theme of the Week: Pumpkins

You can download all of the printables for this unit FREE here on the main RRSK page, just scroll down until you see them!  We do 2 activities from the set per day, making 10 total activities.

This week we did John 3:16, and instead of making up my own verse tune, we used the tune from Seeds Family Worship {Eternal Life, on the Seeds of Faith CD}. In the printable set, I offer 2 versions, the KJV from the book and the NIV from the CD…be sure to print the ones you want for each page that has the verse on it!IMG_6356

I am not sure if I have ever shown a photo of his current work area, here he was working on one of his pages, you can see he is not actually sitting at his desk in this shot, his actual desk is off to the right, he is sitting at his workbox shelf.  I hang up his RRSK and his YCR stuff together now.  His completed work gets hung up on the cork boards over his desk.IMG_6384

Gluing the verse, we did this one in strips, since it was so long…IMG_6392

Glittering his sight word {even though he already knew it}IMG_6436

Reviewing our past sign language letters and working on the letter Ff, I really need to laminate a set of these!

IMG_6731 IMG_6732

Here he is singing for you, if you don’t recognize the tune, be sure to download the Seeds version, it is wonderful!

RRSK Letter Ff Printables Here!

If you want early access to printables beyond what I have blogged about, you can see info about purchasing here!  Currently I have units Aa-Ll available in the early access section.

We used unit 12 from You Can Read.  Here’s a glimpse into some of the You Can Read work he did.  I don’t have many photos because he is doing a lot of the work independently now while I am working with PacMan.

He decided to try a highlighter for tracing and really enjoyed this.IMG_6396

Finding words in sentences in the dry erase center, still one of his favorites.IMG_6593

Stamping his words ~ not one of his favorites {YCR add-on}…IMG_6446

He LOVES the sight word graphing {YCR add-on}IMG_6734

Adding words to his caterpillar.IMG_6730

Krash wants to play the same word games every day now!

Check out more wonderful Word Play ideas here, and add yours!

We strung out our pumpkin activities over a couple of weeks, here’s a few he did.

One thing I really love about Calvert, is their phonics readers.  They have a strong phonics approach to teaching reading and their phonics readers are wonderful.  They take a word family and the simple sight words a child has already learned and make a simple book.  For the next book, it combines the word family from the previous book and a new one, plus the known sight words.  There are 20 books all together.  As far as I know you cannot buy them as a stand alone set, at least not new ~ I have seen them on eBay and Paper Back Swap.

Each book has a signature page in the back for the child to read it to different people and get them to sign it.  We have a 3 person “rule” meaning he has to get at least 3 signatures!  He likes the challenge, here he is earning one from Baba and one from Pac Man!

IMG_6424  IMG_6432

We got out our Alphabet Sounds Box, worked with 3 different sounds…IMG_6726

He is VERY into addition facts and is miles ahead of his K curriculum, so we just do our own thing.  He has memorized his addition facts {after learning the process itself quickly}, in a way Pac never did!  Here is is working with our math facts file folder game.  He looks at the fact and puts it in the correct pocket…IMG_6629

He has access to a web program called First in Math, he loves this and here was working on addition facts also!IMG_6438
