Krash has officially completed Kindergarten, I have turned in all of his Calvert assessments and his 1st grade box is on order. I still consider him in Kindergarten for now, although we are in more of a transition phase. I DO plan to do the rest of the RRSK Bible verses with him, they will probably be just video posts for you so there is a record of how to sing them We are also continuing on with All About Reading, in the fall or possibly sooner, I will add in All About Spelling Level 1.
RRSK: Letter Oo
Theme: Cats
You can download all of the printables for this unit FREE here on the main RRSK page, just scroll down until you see them! We are only doing the Bible memory work since he has mastered all of the other skills included in the RRSK packs.
Here is Krash singing letter O for you, the tune is “Jingle Bells.” The printable written out the way you sing it for LETTER O is here!
RRSK Letter Oo Printables Here!
If you want early access to printables beyond what I have blogged about, you can see info about purchasing here! Currently I have units Aa-Rr available in the early access section.
We began reviewing All About Reading Level 1 awhile ago, and Krash continues to make consistent progress. You can read more about why we are choosing to review this homeschool reading program here in our “Current Curriculum” post {see FAQ}.
I wrote a lot about our initial thoughts and experiences with AAR in this Kindergarten with Krash post.
We have moved on to final blends, initial blends, and doubles {ff, ll, ss}!
He is flying along, I am so happy with his progress. He definitely prefers the games over the flashcards! I included fruit snacks as little treats during one game, he loved that!
~~~ CAT THEME ~~~
Since Ladybug had a CAT theme, I expanded on this for Krash, but with a different focus. I chose a couple of fun cat books and we did activities based around those! I found several fun activities for the book, “Cookie’s Week” on Making Learning Fun, so we did some of those.
He helped Ladybug work on an interactive book…
We ordered the days of the week based on the story…
We have this book, “One Hungry Cat” and I decided to make the math story come alive for him one day.
The book has a lot of dividing to make groups equal, it was a great hands on lesson for him!
There was an added bonus too, which he loved even more!
Shaving Cream sensory play, still loves this at almost 6!
I have been looking into some OT items for him, he struggles with wanting to wiggle and move constantly. Here he was holding a “fidget” to help him focus a bit. It helped some.
I also ordered him a balance disk, for 2 reasons. One is for him to actually have a place to go like this and practice his balance, it is an amazing tool! This tool can also be used for wiggly children to sit on, here’s an article written by an OT, where I learned about this. He doesn’t really like sitting on it much for now, but it is GREAT for calming him down with the balancing.
He is LOVING our What’s in the Bible time, and also really likes to color, so it’s a win-win for Krash!
iPad learning fun. We have tons of new apps, some free, some paid. This first one is a paid app and Ladybug and Krash LOVE it! It is called Tally Tots, and it is geared more towards the preschool crowd, but Krash loves the counting to 100 section!
A free app we have been loving is, Sushi Monster. It works with math facts; addition and multiplication. Krash LOVES it!!!
I get asked a lot about our iPad 2 case-it’s the Trident Kraken II and yes we love it! See all of our posts about iPad apps and more here! The stylus we have that he uses sometimes is this one.
A few items we used…
