A bit about If You Give a Mouse a Cookie…
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff is a beloved children’s book that follows a humorous cause-and-effect storyline. The story begins with a boy giving a cookie to a mouse, which sets off a chain reaction of endless requests. Each new request leads to another, from asking for a glass of milk to needing a napkin, a straw, a mirror, and eventually another cookie—bringing the story full circle. The book’s playful and rhythmic text, paired with Felicia Bond’s charming illustrations, makes it an engaging read for young children. It teaches the concept of sequences and consequences in an entertaining way, showing how one small action can lead to a series of unexpected events.
The printables were created to go along with the story, as seen in the photos below! Connecting your activities to a book is a great way to weave a literacy-rich learning environment into your homeschool in a natural and fun way!
