The homeschool curriculum choices blog posts are great, but what I really want to know is what families thought AFTER they used the curriculum they chose! I will be sharing a series of posts with you; evaluating our choices in each grade level from this homeschool year.

Math ~ Teaching Textbooks 3, Life of Fred, Spielgaben
Teaching Textbooks 3 was her main math curriculum and it was a perfect fit for her. I highly recommend starting with TT from the beginning, which is usually 2nd or 3rd grade. She will be moving onto TT 4 next year for 3rd grade!
We loved using Spielgaben to supplement our math lessons and will definitely continue with this. Spielgaben was particularly helpful in bringing a hands-on aspect to some of the more difficult concepts.
We LOVE Life of Fred but sadly we let it slip away. I hope to get back to reading the books to her next year.
Reading Loads of Books and Reading Comprehension 2nd Grade
She read SO many books this year! I tried to keep up with all of them here but after about 80 books I lost track. She is definitely my bookworm. I just step in to try to balance her choices with a few of my choices!
This reading comprehension workbook was a great fit for her and she enjoyed it. I bought her the next level for the upcoming school year!
Grammar ~ First Language Lessons Level 2 & Growing with Grammar 2
I continue to love this combo for grammar! We will be using Growing with Grammar Level 3 in the fall, and we are done with First Language Lessons! We don’t use level 3-4 of FLL, only 1 & 2. We will be adding Grammar Galaxy in the fall as well!
Spelling ~ All About Spelling Level 2
All About Spelling continues to be a good fit for my kids and we will be moving on to level 3 in the fall!
Geography ~ Evan-Moor Beginning Geography
I picked this book up at a homeschool convention and am so glad I did! It was just perfect for her!
Science ~ Apologia Swimming Creatures {with Krash, 5th grade}
Daddy taught this to the younger kids together and they loved it! They technically aren’t done with the entire book but will be doing some lessons this summer to finish!
History ~ The Mystery of History 2
Daddy also teaches history and while it isn’t the favorite of the kids, we love it!
Art ~ Home Art Studio 2nd Grade and Holiday Arts & Crafts
She LOVES art. I do not. We do much more art in the summer than we do during the school year. We will be continuing with Home Art Studio and also enrolling her in some local art classes if possible!
Drop out Subjects ~ Handwriting, Bible
I had grand plans of reviewing cursive handwriting {which she formally learned last year}, but got slack and never followed through. I also had planned to do Picture Smart Bible with K and L together and also didn’t follow through. It was much harder this year to combine L and K because of K’s gymnastics schedule.
Stay tuned, I will be sharing our year-end review for 5th and 9th soon. I will also be sharing our curriculum choices for 9th grade, 6th grade and 3rd grade.
