The homeschool curriculum choices blog posts are great, but what I really want to know is what families thought AFTER they used the curriculum they chose! Today I am sharing our 10th Grade Homeschool Year-End Review!

- Science ~ LIFEPAC 10th {Biology}

- Elective ~ Human Development

Below I will give a small review of each subject, if you have more specific questions about anything, just leave me a comment and I will do my best to answer! My kids are pretty private and I respect their wishes not to share too much personal information now that they are older. If my reviews seem brief, that’s why! Whatever I write about them online is always with their blessing.
Math ~ Teaching Textbooks Algebra 2
Teaching Textbooks is perfect for us. Seriously, math was my most feared subject and TT has made it so easy. He completed Algebra 2 this year and is officially done with his Teaching Textbooks journey. They do have Pre-Cal, but he will be taking his math for 11th grade at the community college in the fall {dual enrollment}.
Literature ~ Essentials in Literature 10
This curriculum did what I needed it to do. I chose it because I wanted a full literature course for him but without tons of long books to read. This gets it done with mostly short stories and one novel! We did not like many of the short stories, but at least they were short! The novel was To Kill a Mockingbird which isn’t a favorite of ours but we got through it.
Writing ~ IEW S & S Level C
He does not like writing, but he got through this. I love IEW, he is fine with it. He doesn’t hate IEW, he just doesn’t like writing in general.
Science ~ LIFEPAC 10th {Biology}
We have used LIFEPAC for science for a few years now with him and it works for us. It is not my favorite curriculum, but of those out there this one works best for what he needs. The smaller magazine-style booklets (instead of a huge textbook) and the self-tests throughout really help.
History ~ Notgrass – Exploring America
In prep for a possible NCAA college journey with gymnastics, we choose our curriculum based on what will likely be easy to get approved when I write up his CCWs (core course worksheets). Notgrass is a traditional textbook-based history with a Christian worldview. We both enjoyed this curriculum this year. We read it together and discuss it.
Elective ~ Human Development
He did NOT like this course at all but I wanted him to do it. So, he did it.
Elective ~ Foundations in Personal Finance
He loved this course! He is considering majoring in business if/when he goes to college so this was right up his alley. I don’t agree with all of the financial thoughts presented but it gives us a great launch for discussions. My older son used this too. We used the online version.
Elective ~ SAT Prep {College Prep Genius}
I loved this at first and then it got too confusing. He is not a test-taker and we loved the strategies and will use this for prep skills continually, but the curriculum itself overwhelmed us, to be honest. it’s not bad, and maybe it was just me since I hate tests too. I think it would be great in the right hands.
