As a homeschool mom of over 20 years, I’ve had the joy (and challenge!) of teaching three kids, two of whom have already graduated. Now with one child left finishing up 12th grade in the fall of 2026, I find myself even more grateful for solid, Christ-centered resources that helped make our homeschool days both engaging and effective. What Ages is Compass Classroom Best For?
One of the things I appreciate most about Compass Classroom is the wide range of ages and grade levels it serves. Many of the courses are designed with middle school and high school students in mind, making them especially helpful for families navigating the upper grades. Courses like Dave Raymond’s History, Devotional Biology, and American Literature are perfect for teens in grades 7–12. But Compass Classroom doesn’t leave younger learners out; programs like Visual Latin and Word Up! are great starting points for kids as young as upper elementary. The membership makes it easy to use the platform for multiple children at different levels, which is a huge win for busy homeschool families. I highly recommend this platform for homeschool families with at least one child in middle school or high school; it truly shines in those years.
My Personal Favorites That We Have Used

Spanish Grammar From Latin Roots – My son completed this course in 11th grade.
Devotional Biology – A beautiful convergence of scientific exploration and spiritual reflection that inspires wonder at creation. My daughter completed this course in 10th grade. This is one of my very favorite Compass Classroom courses. I did it alongside of my daughter, and I learned so much.
F.O.R.M. – A well-rounded health & PE program emphasizing body stewardship, rest, and optimal living. My daughter completed this course for 11th grade and learned a lot.
American Literature – A thoughtful exploration of classic prose and poetry through a Christian lens. My daughter completed this course for 11th grade.
Visual Latin – Visual and memorable, this Latin program has been a favorite for effective, fun language learning. My daughter completed this course in 11th grade.
Word Up! – A vocabulary-building series bursting with humor, music, and mnemonics that help words stick. My daughter completed this series in 7th/8th grade and loved it.
Dave Raymond’s History – Masterfully delivered, worldview-rich narratives that make history come alive. My daughter completed American History in 8th/9th grade, and my son did Modernity in 11th grade. I love these courses!
